Welcome to my first blog post! I think it is very fitting that my first article is about bringing something positive into the new year.
And by the way, it's 2020! Doesn't that sound so much different than 2019?? Something about it just sounds so amazing! I cannot wait to see what this new year and brand new decade brings the family.
I am sharing my five beauty resolutions (or intentions, as some prefer to say) that I have made to better myself. Maybe you can use one for yourself, too! Let me know in the comments if you pick one of mine or what resolutions you have come up with.
1. USE BOLDER HUES: Most days, when I am wearing makeup, I choose simple looks. I rock the neutrals and minimal makeup as much as possible. I follow plenty of makeup bloggers and gurus and I am in love with the looks they come up with. The possibilities are endless. I will use the blog as an opportunity to try out some beautiful looks and show you how you can do it yourself, too.
2. TRY NEW MAKEUP TRENDS: This resolution goes hand in hand with my 1st one, but to include trying out the latest beauty products, such as skincare, hair looks, hair products, etc. I feel that today, compared to 10, even five years ago, the beauty industry has evolved at such an accelerated rate that the possibilities are endless. It can be overwhelming, but at the same time, I am stoked to see that for the most past, the industry is changing for the better as far as for the environment, as well as convenience!
3. DRINK MORE WATER: For those of you that drink water like it's going out of style, GOOD FOR YOU.
I am not one of those people.
I have been making it a point to track the amount of water intake I have each day but sometimes, I just really enjoy a cup of coffee or a soda.
For those of you who suffer from struggling to drink a decent amount of water like me, here are three fundamental reasons why we all need water in our life (besides the obvious reason of survival):
-It relieves fatigue! Yeah, you know what I am talking about. Our brains are made up of mostly water so in order to operate properly, we need to sustain our noggins with the good stuff.
-It could help prevent cancer: Various research has been done to show that drinking water consistently could cut the risk of cancers such as colon, breast and bladder by at least 45%!
-Water helps with headaches. I am not prone to headaches, luckily, except I have been while I have been pregnant twice in three years. Water works wonders. A headache could signal a sign of dehydration, which may be causing the pain in your head.
On to the rest of the resolutions...
4. USE A HUMIDIFIER: A humidifier is used to keep the air hydrated. When the air is dry it can dry out your skin. I am already naturally a dry person, so using a humidifier is a must for me. To keep your humidifier running optimally, fill it up with distilled water. If you choose to use regular tap water, use white vinegar once a week to disinfect and remove mineral buildup that results from the tap water. The one that I use can be found on Amazon, and it is called Motorola Smart Humidifier Warm/Cool Mist Humidifier with Night Light. It costs about $70, and while it is pricey, it is a real investment. It includes WiFi connectivity to link to your smartphone or tablet, a nightlight, and a 1.5 gallon tank to run up to 30 hours at one time.
5. DO MORE DIY BEAUTY: Mostly for facial masks and things related. For reference, I have all over dry skin. I am not prone to acne, but I have uncomfortable, tight, dry skin, sometimes flaky, and as I enter my 30s, my skin elasticity is wearing, as well as having wrinkles, fine lines, and blotchy uneven skin color. Making my own beauty products ensures that I know exactly what I am putting on my skin and face. I feel that the older I get, the more sensitive my skin is to so many products. DIY beauty can also include using natural and safe products, which I have a huge interest in.
And there you have it! It sounds fairly easy, am I right?
I will be sure to update on how my resolutions are going throughout the year!
I hope you enjoyed my very first post, please leave any comments, questions, rants and raves in the comment section, I'd love to hear from you!
